Olds College Partnership Agreement

Olds College veterinary students can more easily matriculate at St. Matthews University thanks to new partnership.

Partnership with Olds College Supports Future of Veterinary Medicine

St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine (SMUSVM) and Olds College of Agriculture & Technology (Olds College) are proud to announce the establishment of a new educational pathway agreement, which will facilitate the journey from Alberta, Canada to Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands.

As part of this partnership, Olds College Veterinary Technology Diploma program graduates who apply to the SMUSVM Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program will receive several application related benefits. Eligible applicants should have completed the diploma program within the last five years and will otherwise be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Successful applicants under this agreement will benefit from an expedited application review process, ensuring a seamless transition into SMUSVM. Additionally, they will be guaranteed an interview, qualify for a $10,000 USD Partnership Scholarship, and become eligible for other merit-based scholarships.

“Through this innovative partnership between St. Matthew’s University and Olds College, we look forward to assisting students in achieving what may have seemed to be the impossible dream,” said Dr. Brendan Lee, Executive Dean, St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine.

“We are very excited about this agreement with St. Matthew’s University. This agreement will provide an excellent opportunity for our current students and alumni to further their education and advance their careers. In addition, our students will be eligible for the St. Matthew’s Partnership Scholarship, which will assist in the cost of their education. This is a great example of collaboration aimed at supporting the veterinary industry, and developing and preserving talent in this most important industry,” said Dalin Bullock, Dean, School of Life Science & Business, Olds College.

Olds College students who attend St. Matthews University will join hundreds of veterinary students who benefit from early hands-on training and unique access to small animals and aquatic reptilian care, an opportunity unique to the Caribbean, as well as training for and access to large animals. Additionally, they will experience the immersive, personalized learning environment that sets SMUSVM apart from other veterinary schools, and a curriculum designed to help develop essential veterinary knowledge and exceptional practical skills.
